Last updated 2026-09-21, for the siege build. 7helm is made and operated by one person, Joshua Ayson, through Organic Arts LLC.
WHAT THE GAME SENDS
When you play on 7helm.com, the game tells the server a few things. Every one of them is made of numbers and a short list of fixed words. There is nowhere to type anything of your own, apart from three initials.
- Small notices: that you opened the game, started a run, finished or abandoned one, that you entered your three initials (sent when you confirm them, with that run's result), and that you left (with how long you were here and how many runs you played).
- The record of each run, sent when it ends:
- once a second: where your ship was, its speed, hull, heat and fuel, kills and wave, and in the siege your alloy, lives, raiders on the field and batteries built;
- each thing that happened, with its time: a hook latched, stopping to use the hook, a hit taken, overheating, the cloak on or off, a battery built, upgraded or sold, a breach, your ship going down, a wave called, a treasure taken, a contract kept, a pause;
- a summary: the mode, the station, how long it lasted, the score and the result;
- the recording of your controls, so the run can be played back exactly as you played it.
- With each of these: a random id your own browser made up (not a cookie, not built from your device, meaningless anywhere else), your three initials if you have entered them, whether you used touch or keyboard, and the game's version.
That is the whole list. No name, no email, no account. The server refuses anything else, and it does not record your IP address or browser description alongside these records.
WHO READS IT, AND WHY
- One person, Joshua, reads it, to make the game better: where runs end, what gets built, which stations are too hard, whether people come back.
- It is never sold, never shared, and never used for advertising.
- There are no cookies, no ads, and no third-party scripts. No analytics company, ad network or social network learns that you were here. The site's security policy forbids the page from contacting anyone but 7helm.com.
- When someone plays a real run, and when they leave, a short notice ("JDA · skirmish · wave 6 · 2m14") is posted to a private Slack channel that only Joshua reads. It contains initials and run numbers only. Joshua's own browsers are marked, so his play is recorded but never announced.
THE BOARD
- When a run ends, its recording is sent to the board. The server replays it with the game's own rules and posts the score the replay reaches, next to your three initials. A score nobody played cannot get on it.
- The board shows initials, the result and the score. Nothing else about you is shown. Board entries stay until you delete them with the button below; today's board clears itself after a week.
HOW LONG IT IS KEPT
- Notices are deleted automatically after 180 days.
- Run records and control recordings are deleted automatically after 90 days.
- Like every website, the servers that deliver these pages keep an access log: the time, the page requested, your IP address and your browser's description. Those logs are deleted after 7 days and are used only to count visits and keep the site working.
- High scores, settings and your siege stars are kept in your own browser and never leave it.

WHAT COMES LATER
A shared leaderboard and ghosts of other pilots' runs, built from the recordings above. This page will be updated before that build goes live.
